HOW TO USE AVERAGE IF IN EXCEL

AVERAGEIF is used to find the average (arithmetic mean) of a given set of values of a given criteria within a specified range. It calculates the average of the cells that meet the given criteria. The first step is to type AVERAGEIF in a blank selected cell.

The range is the array of values, the criteria is the common value that you want to find the average. The average range just like the sum range, it is used depending on the table and it is used the same way as sum range. It is used when there are two or more determining columns. Considering the table above, we are looking for the AVERAGEIF.

To do this type=AVERAGEIF(select  the range of values you want, “the criteria is 70”, then since we have more than one determining column you select a special array of values that you want to apply the formular to and close the bracket). In the end it will appear like the example below, then you press enter.
